Master your emotions

Did you ever wonder what are emotions? How they originate and how ultimately they affects your decision, your well being and your future. It is well validated now that hard work, intelligence might not make you successful if you do not have high emotional quotient. Thiabut Meurisse in his book Master your Emotions not only talk theoretically on this complex topic but also gives you guidance to practically understand and work on your emotions. It guides you to understand how emotions, feeling and our actions drives each other. Another important aspect Thiabut touches upon is how you can to an extent take control of your emotions and feelings. Lastly, it provides working exercises in form of questions, that require you to think them through and answer them to practically implement the ideas suggested in the book.

This 170 pages, 29 chapter compact book, is divided in four parts:

  • Part I sheds light on what emotions are and how our survival mechanism affects our emotions

  • Part II talks about different factors that impact our emotions like-- sleep, thought, words , breathing, environment and music.

  • Part III then guides you to take a control of your emotions and discuss in detail about how one can change the emotions.

  • Last Part IV, explores the possibility of using our emotions to grow.

At the end working exercise for each of the four part is included. You do need some serious thinking while answering the questions and it is fascinating to know yourself through those questions.

It is a short, effective and fantastic book. Being humans, we always go back to our original act, but then there are some books which you can always refer back to reevaluate yourself. I think this book falls in that category.
